DJ Lottie is once again a House-hold name, thanks to her recent guest-presenting for Ana Mantronic’s Dance Devotion shows, on BBC R2 ***

Mixing, musing and enthusing over electronic music’s current stars, like Patrick Topping & Fiorious, Airing now-classics such as Daft Punk’s ‘ARTW’ & Roy Davis Jnr’s ‘Gabriel’, records she once championed when presenting The Essential Selection on R1 over a decade ago, reminds us of her heritage as one of the UK’s finest ever DJs.

And one of the first female players on a British scene, that was to take over the world, and her with it.

A true pioneer of House music, since the 90’s rave revolution shaped a generation, Lottie has been a DJ, voice, orchestrator & influencer. Her thirst for new music is matched only by her passion for the history to be heard

It’s always been all about the production for me and the best dance music is experimental but it’s got to have emotion and grab hold of you. Honey Dijon is throwing out the tunes at the moment and Butch, Patrice Baumel, Claude Van Stroke & Harry Romero’s offerings consistently get played in my set”

DJing wasn’t a “proper job” back then; it was an escape, a wonderland. The scene was built on inclusion, but for Lottie to have broken through, as a female DJ back then, is still remarkable. And inspiring today. She went on to win both the Sony Ericsson Muzik magazines ‘Best New DJ’ award as well as the Dancestar ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ award and soon began touring the world

Lottie became obsessed with early US House DJ/producers *** Lil Louis, MAW, AVH, Sneak, Morillo. Tracked down US imports, mastered her mixing on vinyl and quickly cut through to establish herself an arbiter of great taste, who would rock it alongside her heroes, in just a few years. A string of record releases, collaborations & remixes on Defected, Wall Of Sound, Duty Free & FFRR, soon had them playing her beats back too.

Resident at the legendary Turnmills in London, she became known for her deep, jacking journeys. She was the first woman on the cover of Muzik Mag, a regular in DMC’s 7 and earned the honour of being Bugged Out’s First Lady Of House. She regularly took over for Danny

Rampling’s R1 show, was Pete Tong’s deputy stand-in, and performed several Essential Mix live shows,.

She stormed the biggest clubs in Ibiza; a regular at DC10, Pacha and Space. Exit Festival, Glastonbury Balaton, Tenax. Sirena Brazil and Fabric London followed.

Lottie’s missdemeanours party at AKA was a London hub for the global movement, for a decade. Whoever was in town would turn up and magic happened. Thomas Bangalter, Philippe Zdar RIP, Giles Peterson, Tiefshwarz WHO ELSE, all in her court.

She presented live/on location for MTV Dance and featured in a Channel 4 doccumentary XX.

After she’d soared the global circuit for decades, reaching unimaginable heights and destinations, Lottie has been revelling recently in playing parties and hosting her own Acid Housewife events bringing other great female DJ’S such as Smokin Jo’ Lisa loud & DJ Paulette into the fold and resident for Soho House Group including playing the coveted ‘House Festival’ more than once

After a recent peak-time Pikes Ibiza set, when Lottie tore up the infamous Freddies club room. She will be back there this summer and is considering select club and festival offers for 20:20.

For Lottie, being a DJ isn’t just what you do, it’s who you are. A

soul-sharing, joy giving, reason for living, level calling. But for us, she is simply a much needed lose yourself in the music, pied piper. So, the

question is not so much, why now? As why ever not?
