SINCE MUSIC FOR FREAKS BEGAN MORE THAN 25 YEARS AGO IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE ODD ONE OUT.
Always striving to be different but never taking things so seriously that the reasons it was started became jaded.
One thing they have always taken very seriously though is the standard of music they present.
The label was originally formed by Luke Solomon and Justin Harris to give them the freedom to do whatever they wanted creatively. It was initially a vehicle for them to release the music they made as Freaks (the band) together, but Music For Freaks (MFF) quickly became, and still is, a sanctuary of creative freedom and influence for more than two generations of House Music artists and producers….. featuring releases and remixes from the likes of Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Villalobos, Luciano, Rob Mello, Lil’ Mark, Diz Washington, Joshua Iz, Honey Dijon, Doc Martin, Jonny Rock, Kenny Hawkes, Zoo Brazil, Prudo & Eclat, Soulphiction, Dave Aju, Soul Clap, Mateo & Matos, thatmanmonkz, Jozif, Demuir, Javi Bora, Juan Corbi, Anna Wall, Tyree Cooper, Lord Leopard, Dan Ghenacia, Walker & Royce, AJ Christou, The Martinez Brothers, Bear Who, Affani, Matt Tolfrey, Lord Leopard, Bart Ricardo and countless more!
In fact, it would probably be quicker to list the people who HAVEN’T been involved with the label. Suffice to say that Music For Freaks is regarded as one of the most respected underground independent house music labels amongst its peers.
From the very beginning, they have always thrown great parties, infused with a ‘happy misfits’ ethos and creating an amazing atmosphere for anyone and everyone. And when Justin Harris took over the reins of the label and relocated to Ibiza in 2016, he brought that ethos with him and was offered a Music For Freaks summer residency at the spiritual home of misfits in Ibiza, Pikes, where MFF parties have been raising the roof ever since, by featuring guests from the ever-growing artist family. Parties at Sankeys, 528 Ibiza and Club Chinois have since followed with the likes of Alinka, Josh Wink, Charlie Soul Clap, Fuzzy Cufflinxxx, Cassy, Javi Bora, Jansons and the MFF Residents aka Justin Harris, Affani & Bart Ricardo.
